Our teachers think over their teaching practices, analysing how something was taught and how the practice might be improved or changed for better learning outcomes. How is GJR International School different from other international schools?

GJR International School is built on a promise that every student will be known by name, strength, and need. Also, they will acquire the conceptual knowledge, skills, and confidence to pursue his/her dreams rationally. Hence, we support sustainability and diversity in all aspects of school life. The school curriculum is student-centric and inquiry-based rooted in well-researched Differential Learning and Multiple Intelligence to drive the students to solve problems creatively. Plus, ensuring the right balance of extracurricular activities and academics is a part of an everyday inclusive learning environment.

What curriculum does the school follow?

Early Years School and Primary School till Grade 6 Follow Experiential Inquiry-based methodology aligned to International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years program. The syllabus followed is what is prescribed by the National Curriculum Framework to assist in easy transition to CBSE Board in High School and/ or any other national or International Board across the country and Globe. The Middle and High schools follow the curriculum of CBSE and IB as two different schools of choice.

In Middle and Senior School, the curriculum focuses on independent research-based learning aided by a multidisciplinary approach, building in-depth knowledge of subjects and focusing on problem-solving high order thinking skills.

In the case of a medical emergency, how will the school take care of my child?

Utmost care is taken regarding such incidents. However, an in-house medical nurse is present at all times during school hours to attend to minor injuries and medical emergencies. For major emergencies, the student will be given first aid at school and taken to the nearby hospital and parents will be informed simultaneously.

Are teachers qualified and do they undergo any professional development workshops?

We ensure that the teaching faculty meets the required eligibility criteria as laid down by the Education Department before they become a member of our team. Moreover, the teaching faculty at GJR International School has a sound professional approach. Therefore, teachers undergo both Professional and Personality training courses and workshops regularly, to enhance their skills. So, Teacher training is given a high degree of importance at GJR.

Are students required to carry heavy bags to school?

Our attempt as progressive 21st-century schooling is to reduce the burden on the shoulders of students at this tender age. However, students are required to carry minimal books and any stationary, as required. Also, the school provides a locker facility for students to store their books and other belongings.

How many terms are there in one academic year?

There are two (2) semesters/terms in one academic year. Certainly, the academic year is from June to March.

What are the languages offered at GJR International School?

All mainstream classes are conducted using English as the medium of instruction. However, Hindi and Kannada are options for a second language. The third language option is French, Kannada, and Hindi.

Is there any other way to interact with teachers other than a PTM?

We consider parents as proactive partners in the education process. Parents are free to meet teachers and the concerned authorities, with prior appointments, as and when necessary.

Is there a school uniform?

Yes, we have school uniforms for students from Nursery to Grade 12. Also, there are different uniforms for regular wear and physical Education. Parents can buy uniforms on the school premises on specific days of the week.

What is IB?

IB International Baccalaureate (IB), formerly the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), is an international educational foundation headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, and founded in 1968. It offers 3 educational programs, namely

  • PYP or Primary year program for KG to Class-5
  • MYP or Middle year program for Class-6 to Class-10
  • DP or Diploma program for Class-11 and Class-12

IB education is unique because of its rigorous academic and personal standards. Most importantly, IB programs challenge students to excel not only in their studies but also in their personal growth. The IB aims to inspire a lifelong quest for learning hallmarked by enthusiasm and empathy.

What are the timings for the school?
Nursery and Kindergarten: 8:00 AM to 12:45 PM
Grades 1 to 6 [Primary]: 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM [Monday to Friday]
Grades 7 to 12 [Secondary]: 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM [Monday to Friday]
                                                  :8:30 AM to 12:30 PM [1st & 3rd Saturdays of the month]
Morning Snack Break:  9:30 AM to 9:45 AM
Lunch Break: 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM
What are the Admission Criteria?

All prospective parents should cooperate and understand that,

  • GJR International School’s admission process is strictly managed to be fair, transparent, and in line with the values and ethos of the School.
  • No payment of any type, except those set out in the fees schedule, will be requested by anyone associated with the school. No payments for school fees are allowed in cash.
  • To clarify, we are open to all in the community who accept our school culture, values, and educational approach with an open mind and are willing to cooperate with us to provide the best educational environment to the students.
  • Age criteria are strictly followed as per the National Education guidelines.
  • Preference is given to the students who live in the proximity of the school and siblings of the students.
  • Equally important, students applying for admission from Grade 6 to 11 have to take up an assessment in Math, English, and Science.
Does the school have boarding (residential) facilities?

No, GJR International School is a day school. Students have to be residing with at least one parent/guardian in Bengaluru and bear full responsibility for the child.

When should I apply for admission?

The Admissions Office starts accepting applications in October every year for admission into the academic year beginning the following June. However, we are open throughout the year for admissions, depending on the availability of seats. Indeed, parents may review our website and contact us through mail or call us directly.

The child is not meeting the age criteria by a few days/months, Should I apply?

You may still apply and in case there are seats available post-completion of the initial process we will contact you.
