How is GJR Internationals School different from other international schools?

What curriculum does the school follow?

Pre-Primary Years and Primary School till Grade 6 Follow Experiential Inquiry-based methodology aligned to International Primary Years Programme. The syllabus followed is within the guidelines of the National Curriculum Framework to assist in the easy transition in Middle and High School to any National or International Board in High School and Secondary school.

At Middle and Senior School, the curriculum focuses on independent research-based learning aided by a multidisciplinary approach, building in-depth knowledge of subjects and focussing on problem-solving higher order thinking Skills.


IB International Baccalaureate (IB), formerly the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), is an international educational foundation headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland and founded in 1968

It offers 3 educational programs, namely

  • PYP or Primary year program for KG to Class-5
  • MYP or Middle year program for Class-6 to Class-10
  • DP or Diploma program for Class-11 and Class-12

An IB education is unique because of its rigorous academic and personal standards. IB programmes challenge students to excel not only in their studies but also in their personal growth. The IB aims to inspire a lifelong quest for learning hallmarked by enthusiasm and empathy.

What are the timings for the school?

Nursery and Kindergarten :    8:15 am to 12:30 pm.

Grades 1 to 6 (Primary):  8:15am – 2:45pm (All Saturdays Holidays)

Grades 7 to 12 (Secondary):  8:15am– 2:45 (2nd and 4th Saturdays Holidays)

Saturdays : 8:15am to 12:30pm

Morning Short Break: 9:30 to 9:45 am

Lunch Break: 12:30 to 1pm

What are the Admission Criteria?

All prospective parents should cooperate and understand that:

GJR International School’s admissions process is strictly managed in order to be fair, transparent and in line with the values and ethos of the School.

No payment of any type, except those set out in the fees schedule, will be requested by anyone associated with the school. No payments for school fees are allowed in cash.

We are open to all in the community who accept our school culture, values and educational approach with an open mind and are willing to cooperate with us to provide the best Educational environment to the students.

 Age criteria are strictly followed as per the National Education guidelines.

Preference is given to the students who live in the proximity of the school and siblings of the students.

Students applying for admission from Grade 6th  to  11th have to take up an assessment  in Math, English and Science.

Does the school have boarding (residential) facilities?

No, GJR International School is a day school. Students have to be residing with at least one parent/guardian in Bangalore and bear full responsibility of the child.

When should I submit an application for admission?

The Admissions Office starts accepting applications in October every year for admission into the academic year beginning the following June. However, we are open throughout the year for admissions, depending on the availability of seats. Overseas parents may review our website and contact us through mail or call us directly.

Application Forms can be downloaded from our website, and are also available at the school office for INR 500/-.

Child is not meeting age criteria by few days/months, Should I apply?

You may still apply and in case there are vacancies available post completion of initial process we will contact you.

Are students required to carry heavy bags to school?

Our attempt as a progressive 21st century schooling is to reduce the burden on shoulders of books at this tender age. Students are required to carry minimal books and any stationary, as required. The school provides a locker facility for students, wherein they can store their books and other belongings.

How many terms are there in one academic year?

There are two (2) semesters/terms in one academic year. Academic year is from June to March.

In case of a medical emergency, how will the school take care of my child?

Utmost care is taken regarding such incidents. However, an in-house medical nurse is present at all times during school hours in order to attend to minor injuries and medical emergencies. For major emergencies, the student will be given first aid at school and taken to the nearby hospital and parents will be informed simultaneously.

Are teachers qualified and do they undergo any professional development workshop?

We ensure that the teaching faculty meets the required eligibility criteria as laid down by the Education Department, before they become a member of our team. The teaching faculty at GJR have a sound professional approach. Teachers undergo both Professional and Personality training courses and workshops on a regular basis, in order to enhance their skills. Teacher training is given a high degree of importance at GJR.

Is there any other way to interact with teachers, other than a PTM?

We at GJR consider parents as proactive partners in the education process and parents are free to meet teachers and the concerned authorities, with prior appointment, as and when necessary.

Is there a school uniform?

Yes, we have school uniforms for students from Nursery to Grade 12. There are separate uniforms for regular wear and Physical Education. Uniforms may be bought from the school on specific days of the week.
