Country of Festivals:

India is a land of diversity. It is a land of festivals and fairs.
One way in which it makes us feel proud of it is the number of festivals we enjoy.

There are more festivals celebrated in India than anywhere else in the world. Each festival pertains to different occasions, some welcome the seasons of the year, the harvest, the rains, or the full moon. A number of these festivals are common in most parts of India. However, they may be called by different names in various parts of the country or maybe celebrated in a different fashion.

There are numerous events in India taking place each month, and August is no different. The month of monsoon sees some important Indian festivals and events that range from cultural to religious. Festivals in August include the famed Raksha Bandhan, Vara Mahalakshmi, and the harvest festival of Kerala known as Onam.

Apart from classroom learning, GJRIS encourages students to celebrate every festival with great zeal and enthusiasm. We celebrated festivals like the Onam, Raksha Bandhan, and Vara Mahalakshmi with our students with fervor and zest. Children were exposed to the essence of festivals in various ways like they tapped their feet on peppy songs followed by cheerful rhymes and melodious songs. Every performance turned out to be innovative and unique in its way. At the end of the day, the boundless joy of celebrating the event was visible on the faces of all.
