A simple game can teach the child to patiently wait for their turn and accept winning and losing equally. Improves Social Skills – While playing together, children learn to cooperate and communicate with different age groups, follow game rules and get along with other kids improving their social skills. Save natural resources for the future generation

Save natural resources for the future generation Natural resources are the materials provided by mother nature that support our life and fulfil people’s needs. A few to mention are water, air, sunlight, metals, sand, stone, soil, etc. These materials are essential for humans to survive and lead a balanced life. Good air to breathe, pure water to drink, fertile soil to grow crops. When these natural resources get contaminated, human health is at stake. Not only does it affect the present generation but also the future generations. Many of us might have read about global warming and how this can lead to disasters in the environment? Greenhouse gases are one of the biggest reasons for global warming. These gases trap the heat and make the planet warmer. The largest source of greenhouse gas is transportation. The emission of gases from vehicles causes air pollution. Various other reasons are industrial waste evacuated into air and water, cutting down of forests, and conversion of lakes into commercial and residential zones that affect the groundwater. We are running out of time. We have to take a few actions that would help us save our planet and the health of future generations. Firstly, we should reduce further damage to the planet, and secondly, we should take measures to save resources. To achieve this, we have to consciously take steps and implement a few habits in our day-to-day life. There are simple techniques that can be practiced by kids too. Here are a few ways all of us can save our natural resources. Conservation of water – Turn off the tap while brushing your teeth. Use the shower reasonably. Do not keep the shower on while applying soap. Reuse a glass to drink water or refill a bottle. Same with the clothes. Try to keep your clothes clean and reuse them if it is not soiled. This will help you reduce the consumption of water to wash utensils and clothes. Kids can collect rainwater and use it to water plants or for cleaning purposes. Conserve Power – Turn off the light when you leave the room. Turn off the electronic gadgets, not in use. Do not leave the refrigerator door open for a long time while you decide to take items from it. It consumes additional energy to retain the temperature inside the refrigerator. Keep the doors closed while your air conditioner is ON. Save Trees – Cut down on the usage of paper. Use cloth napkins instead of paper tissues. Use recycled paper or scrap paper for coloring and fun activities. Last but not the least, practice buying toys and products that can be recycled to reduce waste. Planting trees can be a fun activity that every kid must adopt. Not only will this help reduce global warming but having direct contact with nature help kids learn tactile skills reducing screen time. These techniques might look simple, but in the long run, they will give massive results. An American said, “We don’t inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.” This one line covers everything we discussed above. So let’s work towards making the earth a better place for the coming generations.

8 ways storytelling benefits kids

8 ways storytelling benefits kids Do you remember how eagerly we used to wait for the grandmother’s storytelling sessions? It was fun listening to those stories. It stimulated curiosity and imagination in us. Arouse a sense of connection with the characters in the story. It was entirely magical.  Even today, we remember most of the stories we heard in our childhood. That is because of the impact those stories created on our minds. At school, I recall those moral story sessions once a week. The moral of the story was simply conveyed to us. Most of the big life lessons we have learned through stories in our childhood. For example:The boy who cried wolf – Moral learned ‘Lying breaks trust’!The golden touch – Moral learned ‘Greed will always lead to downfall’! Storytelling has been the most powerful tool to teach kids the much-needed lessons of life. It has been scientifically proven that storytelling has the power to engage, influence, teach and inspire the listeners. There are many benefits of storytelling that science has proved. Implant morality in kids –Storytelling is one of the best ways to tell kids about the good practices they should adopt. The instances in the story help kids to relate to the real-time situation hence improving their analytical skills. Improves their listening skills –It is highly difficult to hold on to a kid’s attention for a longer time. A story can evoke curiosity in them, thus improving their listening skills. Boost their imagination –As we narrate a story, kids form their story pitch in their heads. Every word shapes a picture in their minds. Their imagination of the characters and plots gets intensified and creates a deep impact on them. Increases cultural awareness –A kid must have a model in front of them to relate to and understand anything new. A narrator can give the storytelling an elevation by going into details about the character’s appearances, their behavior, the plot, and the theme which makes it easy for kids to adopt and follow them. Enhances their communication skills –Storytelling is a way of expressing or communicating a sequence to kids. While listening to a story, kids are also learning how they can express themselves. Enhances vocabulary and helps them retain for a longer time –Storytelling is entertaining and at the same time, helps kids to gain knowledge. One of the important aspects is vocabulary. The more the kids read or listen to stories, the more they learn new words and their meanings. Improves memory –According to Neuroeconomics Studies at Claremont Graduate University, stories capture attention compared to any other form of information because they leave a physical and emotional trace in the brain. Strengthen child’s thinking and questioning skills –It is a human tendency to gain knowledge in subjects that interests us. As the child exuberantly listens to the story and processes the information, the child might want to know more details and come up with questions. Thus storytelling improves reasoning and questioning skills.
